How Orbit protects you
Nearby, without anyone learning where you are.
Orbit is opt-in, gated behind a verified phone and the 18+ rule, and built so that the useful part — that someone shares your interests and is roughly close — survives while the dangerous part never exists.
- Snapped before it is storedYour position is rounded to a grid of about 150 metres and displaced by an offset unique to you. The exact point never reaches a database.
- Others only ever see a rangeDistance leaves the server as one of six phrases — "within a few km" — never a number, never a pin, never a map.
- Off means deletedTurning Orbit off removes the stored point immediately. There is no archive, and no other feature reads it.
- Nobody is countedGALAXO will not tell you how many people are near you, because that number is the one that makes a neighbourhood identifiable.
